Electronic Prepress, Computer to Plate Technology

In 1996, state-of-the-art digital platemaking technology was acquired, which once again underscored the Company’s mission to continually improve quality and service to our customers. In 2008, a Kodak Magnus auto-loading platesetter was installed in order to take advantage of the latest advances in computer-to-plate technology. With two platesetters, each capable of serving the needs of all of our presses at full capacity, the commitment to redundancy for the sake of service is also reinforced.

Electronic Prepress
Sophisticated electronic prepress capabilities enable Commercial to accept digital layout and design files from virtually any computer platform, including Windows, Mac, and Unix. A wide variety of media formats and electronic file transfer are supported.

Technology Enhancements
In 2004, a Kodak Prinergy prepress workflow system was installed to keep up with rapidly changing customer needs and industry standards. Electronic delivery of customer assets was enhanced by the addition of new high- speed data lines, providing for near immediate delivery of images and job data.

Proofing System
A Kodak MatchPrint ink jet proofing system allows Commercial to provide color-accurate examples of how the customer’s final product will appear.

Environmental Responsibility
The plate processing chemicals used in our plateroom are aqueous-based, and have been manufactured in keeping with EPA regulations for non-hazardous disposal.
